As the founding developer of the all steel fender, we have built the vast majority of creep fenders currently in operation today. Fenders as standard measure 1.25m square x 0.38m (15") high and are available in a choice of Drop Front or Fixed Front models. In addition, both models are avilable in a choice of 1.5mm or 2.0mm. All fenders are of a galvanised construction to ensure maximum life expectancy. The thinner 1.5mm version has now become the most popular option for fixed front models. This 25% reduction in material weight makes the manual moving of fenders far easier. However, because both thickness share the same amount of galvanised coating, this reduction in thickness does not result in an equivilent reduction in life expectancy. The heavier 2.0mm version remains the most popular for Drop Front models which have moving parts. As standard, connection of the Fender to the Hut is by a single anti-luce fastener. Fenders can however be supplied with hooks going either under or over the hut threshold as required. | Drop Front. Generally, Drop Front models are positioned on to the hut once the hut has been repositioned and remains there until moving. The hinged front section would be left in the lowered position pre farrowing, then raised once farrowing has taken place. This fender is particular popular for gilts and smaller sows. Fixed Front. Unlike the Drop Front model, Fixed Front versions are static and would not be positioned on to the hut until farrowing has taken place. Then, once the litter has gown to an age where they can clear the fender, it will be removed and generally leant against the hut. Bolt-Together. As a new alternative to the standard Fenders, we are now able to offer the Fixed Front Creep Fender in a bolt-together format for self assembly. Whilst the initial Fender cost is very similar, this format represents a significant saving in delivery and logistics generally in comparison to standard options however the design means there is little sacrifice in terms of stuctural integrity.
