Every aspects of our Farrowing Hut has been carefully designed with welfare and easy management in mind. The sloped sides provide safe spaces for pigs, reducing the risk of their being crushed. A vent in the back, fitted as standard, permits ventilation and viewing, while the large central doorway makes it easy for you to see inside without having to enter the hut, at a time when sows can become spooky and defensive.
Flat Top Insulated Steel Farrowing Hut
Steel Flat Top Farrowing Huts are supplied fully insulated as standard. As well as retaining vital warmth in winter, this helps sows remain indoors nursing their litters in hot weather, rather than wallowing outside.
Flat Top Plywood Farrowing Hut
The plywood model has an insulated roof, which reduces condensation in cold weather. This helps to keep bedding dry, ensuring the pigs remain warm and reducing your straw use and costs over the winter.
Sizes to suit your system
Both the Steel and Plywood Flat Top Farrowing Huts are available in two sizes, reflecting the increasing use of individual farrowing paddocks, and farmers’ need for tailored equipment for gilts and higher-parity sows, or systems based on heavier weaning weights.
The standard model measures 1.9m wide x 2.3m long and 1.11m high. These dimensions have been tried and tested over many years, and are ideal for gilts. Alternatively, you can opt for our larger model, which is 2.2m wide and 2.6m long, and suitable for higher-parity sows and piglets weaning later.
